Wasps are a Club drenched with history and heritage. The Club was founded in 1867 in the Hampstead area of London and has had several homes since. From 1923 to 1996 we were based at Repton Avenue in Sudbury in London, from 1996 to 2002 we played at Loftus Road in Shepherd's Bush, and from 2002 to 2014 we played at Adams Park in High Wycombe. But the big move came in December 2014 as we secured the Ricoh Arena, and we recently marked the 150th anniversary of the Club in the 2017/18 season.

Wasps have won 12 major titles - the last of which came in 2008 when we won the Premiership. We’ve been European champions twice - in 2004 and 2007 - and have won six English titles, including three in a row from 2003 to 2005. With three Anglo-Welsh Cups and also the 2003 European Rugby Challenge Cup adding to the cabinet, we are one of English Rugby’s most decorated clubs.

Wasps Community run a wide range of programmes to ensure that Wasps are helping to enrich the lives of different generations across a variety of backgrounds. The Wasps Community Foundation has the mission, through the positive values of sport, to facilitate life-enhancing programmes through education, employability, inclusion and development for all communities we reach.

The Wasps Academy focus is to identify the most talented players across Coventry, North Warwickshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, and to continue that development through the age-groups in the hope of one day becoming a Wasps first-team player – while also helping youngsters represent their countries at age-grade level. The Development Player Pathway works with over 350 players across the ages of U13-U16, while the Junior Academy caters for U15-U18, where we have over 120 players. Our Senior Academy (U19+) sees 15 full-time players along with nine Extended Academy youngsters who combine their studying with playing. The next generation can be seen pulling on the Black and Gold throughout the season in the Premiership Rugby Shield – where Season Members can watch every home game for free.

The Wasps matchday experience is second to none in the Premiership, from the electric atmosphere created by our passionate, knowledgable fans, to the local clubs that come to welcome the players onto the pitch for each game. We have over 6,000 people involved in our matchday experiences each season, working alongside over 70 local clubs!

We have a remarkable fanbase. Through our early years we have a number of supporters from London and the surrounding areas, and they’ve stuck with us for the move to the West Midlands, while we’ve been out and about delivering in the community to put top-level rugby on the doorsteps of people in the Coventry and Warwickshire area. With over 6,500 signing up for Season Memberships last season – we are one of the most followed rugby union teams in the world.

We have EIGHT new signings on board for 2019/20 with World-Cup winner and All Black star Malakai Fekitoa coming to join from French giants Toulon. He’ll be linking up with old buddy Lima Sopoaga when he joins in the summer, and there’s another All Black on the way in the form of tighthead prop Jeff Toomaga-Allen. Italy speedster Matteo Minozzi will also be added to the backline while Tonga powerhouse Sione Vailanu will be arriving from Saracens as well as England prospect Ben Vellacott. Exeter Chiefs’ Jack Owlett and Championship duo Biyi Alo and Mike Daniels will be helping to bulk up the tighthead department for 2019/20.

Take a look at those who have signed on for 2019/20...

A host of experienced players have signed up for more Black and Gold action in the coming seasons – TWELVE in total. At Christmas it was confirmed that Jimmy Gopperth, Tommy Taylor, Ashley Johnson, Simon McIntyre and Ben Harris would be extending their stays, while Georgian prop Zurabi Zhvania and Springbok star Juan de Jongh also committed their futures in the New Year. And most recently, England international Kieran Brookes as well as Tom Cruse, Marcus Watson, Rob Miller and Ben Morris, all penned deals with the Club.

Wasps have a squad filled with some tremendous stars of the game and exceptional leaders. England’s Joe Launchbury leads from the front, along with fellow international teammates Dan Robson and Brad Shields, who’ll be hoping to impress in the Rugby World Cup later this year. With Welshman Thomas Young and Springboks Juan de Jongh, Nizaam Carr and Ashley Johnson – there is plenty of quality and experience across the whole squad.

We want every child in Coventry to have attended a live game of rugby in 2019. To make this a reality we have been reaching out to all local schools and clubs with tickets to encourage them to come and cheer on Wasps at Ricoh Arena. We want you and your family on board. We want you to Join The Swarm.

I currently have a Season Membership in the East Stand and find the walk to The Clubhouse is too far. What can I do?
We do appreciate that it is difficult for supporters who sit in the East Stand to fully utilise The Clubhouse, particularly as it is up to a ten-minute walk from some seats to The Clubhouse on a match-day. However, you also have the opportunity to relocate your seat to the West Stand if you wish to do so.

I am 64-years-old now but I will be 65-years-old in August. Am I entitled to a senior (over 65s) concession?
You will qualify for an over 65s concession for the 2019/20 season if you are 65 as of 31st August 2019. The age brackets are based upon your age on 31st August 2019 and not the date you buy your 2019/20 Wasps Season Membership.

Letter from Dai

Letter from Dai

Letter from DaiDear all

I would like to start by paying tribute to our fantastic support who have stuck with us through thick and thin.

It’s been a challenging season on and off the field but we still find ourselves with plenty to play for and an exciting end to the campaign on the horizon.

It’s been frustrating throughout parts of this season as we haven’t hit the high notes which we know we are capable of, and although we’ve shown glimpses throughout, we haven’t been able to do it on a consistent basis. We haven’t had much luck when it comes to injuries and also player availability, and that of course means you’re having to change combinations and doesn’t really allow certain partnerships to flourish. That’s obviously been quite disruptive for us, as well as the departure of one of our star players in Christian Wade, but we’ve had to roll up our sleeves and get on with it.

Europe was always going to be tough against two of the best sides in the world in Leinster and Toulouse, but we didn’t hit our straps and so it was a disappointing campaign. Hopefully, we can finish this season strongly and ensure we’re more competitive in 2019/20.

The Premiership Rugby Cup may have been disappointing results-wise but we used that competition as a tool to try and develop some of our youngsters as well as bringing back players from injury. There have been some real success stories from this – in particular Academy number eight Tom Willis – who certainly didn’t look out of place when he made his Premiership bow after impressing in the Cup. Ross Neal is another. He stuck his hand up straight away in the Cup, and that in turn saw him drafted into the Premiership 15 and he’s shown that he was what it takes at the top. The Cup also saw us hand debuts to eight Senior Academy or Extended Academy players which would’ve given them a real taster of first-team rugby and pulling on the Black and Gold, and hopefully some of them will push on next season.

As for the Premiership, it just keeps getting tougher and tougher for everyone – so many matches are one-score differences and you have to try and learn to be on the right side of those. It just shows you how competitive and also how entertaining Premiership Rugby is. We’ve shown some real resilience in some games to pick up important wins but there’s very little in it between the sides in third, all the way down to the bottom of the table. With that said, we must finish the season strongly and continue to push for a top-four place. Anyone can beat anyone on their day and who knows what can happen if you find yourself in the top four come May.

Looking forward to 2019/20, we may be losing some big-name players, but there is plenty of cause for excitement. We’ve managed to sign the likes of All Blacks Malakai Fekitoa and Jeff Toomaga-Allen, Italy youngster Matteo Minozzi, Tonga powerhouse Sione Vailanu, and with some promising young talent arriving in the shape of scrum half Ben Vellacott and prop Jack Owlett, we’re very much looking forward to the new campaign.

A lot of experienced players have also committed their futures to the Club. Ashley Johnson, Simon McIntyre and Jimmy Gopperth have racked up over 400 appearances for Wasps between them, while we’ve got guys like Juan de Jongh, Tommy Taylor and Ben Harris who are moving onto their second contracts – so there’s some real continuity in the squad which is imperative as we look to build for the future.

We have made really good progress over the past few years and although results haven’t been as we would have liked this season, there is still much to come. Our fans and everyone at the Club deserve success and I’m sure we’ll be able to achieve it with your continued support in the coming seasons.

For me, going through some of those difficult times has made us a better team and meeting a lot of loyal supporters has restored faith in ourselves. We’ve got outstanding fans, they are so supportive even when we’ve had poor performances, and without them, we would not have been able to grow as a team. I would like to thank every single one of you who has stuck by us and continued to support us. Your enthusiasm and passion for the Club is overwhelming.

I look forward to seeing you all next season.
