Richard Blaze

Forwards Coach

Birmingham born Blaze joined Wasps during the unplanned break in the 2019/20 Season.

He played basketball for the Midlands before joining Worcester Warriors’ academy, developing alongside Dylan Hartley, and made his Premiership debut against Wasps in 2005. He moved to Leicester two years later and appeared as a replacement in their 2008 Premiership Final loss to Wasps.

Blaze, who was called up to the England squad for the 2009 Autumn Internationals later that year, was forced to retire in 2010 due to injury problems aged only 25. He stayed at Leicester Tigers as Forwards Coach, winning the Premiership title in 2012/13.

He has also worked with the Tigers academy and second team, achieving success with both, and joined the RFU in late 2017 as part of Premiership Rugby’s coach development agreement.
