A limited edition black cab has been launched across Coventry and Warwickshire offering people the chance to win tickets to Wasps' home games.
The bright yellow ‘Queen Wasp’ cab can be seen roaming around Coventry city centre, with every passenger entered into a draw to win a pair of tickets to every Wasps home game this season – starting with this Saturday’s Aviva Premiership clash against Leicester Tigers (4.30pm kick-off).
The initiative is part of a long-running collaboration between Wasps and Gett, the on-demand black cab app that allows users to pre-book taxis with real-time tracking on their smart phone.
Nick Eastwood, Chief Executive of Wasps, said: “The ‘Queen Wasp’ is unlike no other cab and has an attention-grabbing appearance.
“As well as giving fans the opportunity to win tickets to every home game, we are also offering one lucky winner the chance to experience hospitality and a pre-match tour ahead of our game against Northampton Saints in April.
“Hundreds of people across Coventry and Warwickshire are now ordering their black cabs via the Gett app, including when visiting the Ricoh Arena, and we think this competition will add an extra bit of interest for people when ordering their cabs.
“We have some massive games coming up at the Ricoh Arena. Firstly our local derby against Leicester this weekend in the Aviva Premiership, followed by a crunch clash with La Rochelle in the European Rugby Champions Cup on December 17 and our Christmas game on December 23 versus Gloucester.”
Wasps, Ricoh Arena and Gett launched their partnership in September which has helped to reduce spectator congestion to and from the venue in the three months the partnership has been live.
James Cowen, Corporate Development Director for Gett, added: “After months of planning, we are thrilled to see the ‘Queen Wasp’ on the road in Coventry.
“Being able to bring fans closer to the game with unique match day experiences and prizes was something that was always high on our agenda with the partnership, so it’s exciting to see our vision come to life in a big bright way and in time for some of the season’s biggest matches.”
The Gett app is available in the App Store and Google Play Store – users should use the code WASPS to be in with a chance of riding in the ‘Queen Wasp’.
