Wasps sign Gordon Reid on short-term deal

Date: 9 Nov 2021

Wasps are delighted to announce the signing of Gordon Reid, who has joined the Club on a short-term deal.

The 34-year-old loosehead-prop has been capped 41 times by Scotland and has previously played for Glasgow Warriors and London Irish.

The 120kg forward has been playing for Scottish Premiership outfit Marr RFC this season, having played for Super 6 side Ayrshire Bulls in 2019/20, before a brief stint with Northampton Saints.

Reid will provide cover at loosehead-prop whilst Ben Harris and Tom West recover from their respective injuries and with Robin Hislop receiving a Scotland Squad call-up recently.

Wasps Men’s Head Coach Lee Blackett said: “We are very happy to bring in someone of Gordon’s experience as short-term cover for us. Gordon will be vital for us, while we are without Ben and Westy and while Bomber could be away with Scotland.

“Gordon has played a lot of games at the highest level and as an experienced prop, he will bring a lot to our scrum. We have thoroughly enjoyed having him as part of the group, in the short time he has been with us, and we can’t wait to continue working with him.”

Reid added: “I am delighted to get the opportunity to come back and play in the Gallagher Premiership.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Marr, but this was an opportunity that I couldn’t turn down.

“Wasps are a great Club with a lot of heritage, and it is fantastic to be part of a Club like that.”
