Nathan Hughes has been unveiled as the latest member of Wasps’ squad who will go head-to-head as we approach the festive fixtures, when two teams do battle in an imitation of the popular quiz show.
Never Mind the Buzzwasps is taking place in the Ericsson Indoor Arena on Wednesday, December 13 at 6.30pm.
The charity event is themed around the famous TV comedy pop quiz Never Mind the Buzzcocks and is being hosted by Channel 5 and BT Sport presenter David Flatman.
Elliot Daly and Christian Wade have already been announced as taking part, and more Wasps players will be unveiled in the coming days* to put their musical and general knowledge to the test with six rounds of questions.
The event is being held to help raise funds for Wasps’ three charity partners for the club’s 150th anniversary celebrations, which include Dallaglio RugbyWorks, armed forces charity SSAFA and Zoe’s Place.
David Flatman said: “This event is going to be a really good craic and is helping to raise funds for three very worthy causes.
“On the night, I’m going to be the guy that sits in the middle of two teams made up of rock star players that I’m allowed to have banter with, but it would be pretty bad form if they were to return the favour as I’m a guest.
“The power has already gone to my head and I’m already blanking James Haskell’s texts!”
As well as six rounds of questions, the audience will have the opportunity to take part in a raffle boasting a range of Wasps memorabilia.
Verity Brown, event and match day marketing manager at Wasps, has been the driving force behind Never Mind the Buzzwasps.
She said: “This is a relaxed event that will enable our adult supporters to see the players in a different light away from the rugby field, so we are expecting tickets for this to sell fast.
“The quiz will be a mix up of Never Mind the Buzzcocks and 8 out of 10 Cats and will cover a wide range of topics.
“This is a perfect opportunity for groups of friends to meet up for a laugh ahead of Christmas while making a difference to three charities in the local area.”
Proceeds from the auction and raffle will go towards Wasps’ three nominated charities.
Tickets are on general sale now which includes entry to the quiz and food. Entry for Wasps season members is £15, while tickets for non-members cost £30 and can be purchased by visiting wasps.co.uk/tickets
*all players announced in the build-up will be subject to fitness that week.
