Wasps have been drawn against Montpellier Hérault Rugby and Dragons in the 2020/21 Heineken Champions Cup.
Wasps were drawn into Pool A as a Tier 1 competitor from the Gallagher Premiership, having finished in the top two. That meant that they will face the Tier 4 clubs which have been drawn in the same pool, but which are not in the same league.
This saw Wasps’ Tier 4 opposition in Pool A drawn as French Top 14 side Montpellier and Welsh Pro 14 team Dragons. Wasps will play both clubs home and away during the pool stage. The dates for these fixtures will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Heineken Champions Cup pool draw was conducted differently this year, as 24 teams were split into two pools of 12.
The four highest-ranked clubs in each pool will qualify for the quarter-finals, and the clubs ranked numbers five to eight in each pool will compete in the knockout stage of the Challenge Cup.
The tournament will be played over eight weekends with four rounds of matches in the pool stage followed by a knockout stage consisting of home and away quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final in Marseille on 22 May 2021.
