Wasps fans enjoy Energy Fix with npower

Date: 20 Sep 2018

Leading energy provider npower and Wasps have extended their partnership to a second year following the success of last season’s innovative Wasps Energy Fix April 2020 tariff created exclusively for Wasps fans.

As Official Energy Partner to Wasps Rugby, Wasps Netball and the Ricoh Arena, npower broke new ground last season when they became the first partner to create a bespoke co-branded energy tariff for the club’s fanbase.

Wasps Energy Fix April 2020 is a competitive tariff that allows customers to fix their energy prices until 2020, for added protection against rising prices in the market. Wasps Energy customers have the power to monitor and manage how much energy they are using, anytime, anywhere via their desktop or free smartphone app.

In addition to the great value tariff, Wasps Energy customers have an opportunity to enjoy access to Wasps tickets, money-can’t-buy experiences and limited edition kit, as they are entered into regular prize draws.

To celebrate the start of the new Gallagher Premiership Rugby season, from 18 September 2018, in addition to the exclusive Wasps rucksack, the first 100 customers to sign up to Wasps Energy will also receive a free 2018/19 replica shirt.

Ed Madden, Head of Marketing at npower, said: “Wasps Energy is a unique offering which gives fans a great energy deal whilst also being able to show the power of their support for their team.”

“Our partnership with Wasps is going from strength-to-strength, ranging from fun fan-energy experiments to supplying their impressive stadium with energy for sporting fixtures, concerts, exhibitions and events 365 days of the year. We are delighted to extend our partnership and hope supporters enjoy the exclusive Wasps Energy Tariff we have created for them.”

Stuart Cain, Wasps Group Commercial Director, added: “Wasps Energy powered by npower has proven extremely popular among our fanbase since its launch in April. This is the first time the club has created a co-branded product and it has been a highly successful venture so far. We all need energy and it’s fantastic to have such a high-profile partner in npower taking the time to develop our very own Wasps version that fans can benefit from while supporting their team.”

As partner to Wasps and the Ricoh Arena, npower currently supply the stadium on both gas and power via a flexible purchasing contract up until September 2020. With a total load of 26610 kwh used on an average match day at the Ricoh Arena, one day’s energy in the stadium would run seven houses for a year.

Last season, npower also conducted an energy-fuelled experiment giving 50 supporters the chance to be part of Wasps’ Super Powers team. The experiment determined the high energy point of a match and highlighted how fan-energy in the stands can make a real difference to player-performance on the pitch.
