After a challenging last 18 months for schools and grassroots sports clubs having to do virtual lessons and zoom activity sessions, we are glad to see schools return and grassroots clubs playing rugby and netball matches. Our Community Team are back in schools and clubs and have a wide range of programmes for you to get involved in. Project Rugby continues this year, where our Team will be working in typically under-represented communities within Rugby Union (Diverse Ethnic Communities, Low Socio-Economic Groups, and People with Disabilities) and will be delivering innovative new ways of helping rugby clubs around the region improve their offers. The programme targets secondary schools, colleges and local community groups and we can offer a range of bespoke options to suit your needs!
Premiership Rugby Champions continues this season, and there will be a range of teacher workshops to learn more about the programme and find out how we can enhance your Primary School provision, as we tackle health, numeracy or character education! For the first time, we are delighted to offer a range of individualised school offers to meet your requirements – get in touch with the team to find out more!
HITZ is Premiership Rugby’s award-winning education and employability programme which works with more than 2,000 young people, aged 14 - 19 years old, every year. HITZ, delivered nationally by Premiership Rugby’s 13 member clubs, uses rugby’s core values to improve the personal, social and life skills to support young people back into education, training, apprenticeships and/or employment. We are also able to deliver HITZ on Track, bringing the core principles of HITZ to your secondary school for a 6-week block!
Rugby Camps and Matchday Coaching Clinics will continue again for the 2021/22 season, we will be running rugby camps throughout our Community region across the different school holidays and look forward to seeing you soon! Matchday Coaching Clinics are back and better than ever – receive a 90-minute coaching session and tickets to a Wasps home game, there’s no better way to enjoy a Wasps game!
New to the Community Team this year is Grace Sanders, our Netball Development Officer, who will be developing a range of programmes to further enhance our relationships with the local Netball Community. Whether you are a school, club or community group within the Wasps region we would love to hear from you and explore how we can best support and work with you. Keep an eye out for your favourite Wasps Netball Camps that will be back again this October.
