Want to move like a pro? Here's your chance...

Date: 3 Jan 2018

A fitness course designed by professional rugby coaches to help men lead healthier lifestyles is on the lookout for new recruits in Coventry and Warwickshire.

Wasps are appealing for men aged between 30 to 55 to sign up to the 12-week Move Like a Pro programme (MLAP), which is organised between Premiership Rugby and the Movember Foundation.

The programme aims to help men who want to take the first steps towards getting into shape via classroom and activity-based sessions covering how to get fit, healthier eating and how to improve mental well-being.

Wasps took part in a successful Move Like a Pro trial last year as the club helped more than 50 men from the Midlands to lose a total of 110cm from their waistlines.

Jordan Young, Wasps community development officer, is urging people to sign up to this year’s course by visiting the Wasps Nest Fan Village inside the Ericsson Indoor Arena between 12:30 pm and 2pm on Sunday, January 7 when Wasps host Saracens in the Aviva Premiership (kick-off 3pm).

He said: “A lot of men lead unhealthy lifestyles because they aren’t aware of the simple steps they can take to lead a healthier life, and that’s where Move Like a Pro comes in.

“We know many will embark on the New Year with the best of intentions to be fitter and healthier, and this programme will provide an important starting point to develop a routine and stick at it throughout the year.

“The course helps men to get active, but also educates them on their diet choices and which foods they should be eating more regularly – this inevitably then leads on to helping improve their own self-esteem and mental wellbeing.

“A group from last year’s intake now regularly train every week at Broadstreet Rugby Club off their own back, and have formed a Wasps Move Like a Pro team where they have taken on respective teams at other Premiership clubs.”

A total of 40 spaces are available for the Move Like a Pro programme, which runs from Wednesday, 10 January until Wednesday, 11 April at the Ricoh Arena.

To sign up and find out more, visit the Move Like a Pro stand at the Wasps Nest Fan Village on Sunday, January 7, visit wasps.co.uk/movelikeapro or email jordan.young@wasps.co.uk
