Under 16s go free to Wasps v Northampton Saints
Date: 20 Dec 2018
Wasps are giving young fans an early Christmas present that they can enjoy into the New Year!
The Club are welcoming under 16s into the Midlands derby clash with Northampton Saints on Sunday 6 January for free, with the fixture marking the start of Coventry’s year as European City of Sport.
The offer forms part of a year-long aim by Wasps who want to get every primary school child in Coventry to experience a live rugby match at Ricoh Arena in 2019.
Wasps, who are heading for a sellout crowd for the game with Bath Rugby on Sunday, have beaten Saints three times in their last four league encounters.
Wasps Managing Director Stuart Cain said the decision to offer under 16s the chance to attend the game for free was payback for the fantastic Christmas support.
He said: “We have been blown away by the support we have been shown for our Christmas game with Bath and thought it would be good to thank fans for that backing and, at the same time, recognise that our game with Northampton will be our first fixture during what should be a big year for sport in the city.
“A great deal for European City of Sport is about inspiring our young people to be more active and we thought opening our doors to under 16s for free would be a good way of marking that.
“We would love to think that some of the youngsters who come along to the game will be inspired to take up the sport at their local rugby clubs.
“The match against Northampton falls on the last day of the Christmas holidays which provides the perfect chance to have another family day out and celebrate the start of what is set to be a memorable year for the city of Coventry.”
