Player Sponsors engage in Wasps virtual world

Date: 30 Jan 2021

Faced with the challenge of not being able to deliver sponsorship and events programmes due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, like most sporting organisations Wasps have had to change the focus of delivery and develop partnership packages which embrace the use of digital technology.

Following the recent announcement of our collaboration with 73 Media, who came on board as the club’s Virtual Events Partner, we have already delivered the second in a series of online networking events allowing partners and clients to remain connected to the club. “Behind the Scenes with Wasps” gave attendees the chance to meet the team behind the team, providing exclusive insight via live interviews with Head of Medical Services, Ali James, Head of Performance Analysis, Luke Bowen and Defence Coach, Ian Costello. Already proving hugely popular, we are soon to announce our next event which is due to take place at the end of February.

One of our most popular sponsorship offerings over the last few years has been our Player Sponsorship programme. With the majority of rights normally linked to hospitality, networking or in-stadia branding, the use of digital platforms has been key to allowing us to still deliver value for the businesses we engage with.

Working with existing partners to shape the offering to ensure we meet their needs, the package has been changed so that brand exposure is delivered via social media and networking takes place virtually. In addition, Wasps players have been taking part in Teams calls with their respective sponsor, giving those companies a great opportunity to further develop their relationship with them whilst gaining a better understanding of ‘a day in the life’ of a professional rugby player. Many sponsors took the opportunity to invite their own customers onto these calls, allowing them to reward clients and maintain contact in lockdown.

Wasps would like to thank all of our partners for their ongoing support. It also gives us great pleasure to announce the following companies who have already joined the Player Sponsor programme:
