A new offer as part of our HITZ programme has seen the introduction of an exciting traineeship, helping young people to gain valuable work experience, with the aim to progress onto paid work opportunities. We are delighted that the hard work of Dom Owen (Wasps HITZ Officer), Aimee Franklin (Head of People Operations for Delaware North) and the wider stadium team has already started to pay off!
Daniel Coleman joined the programme through a third-party job search programme and wanted to take part in the traineeship to broaden his skills in different work environments. Daniel has been searching for a job since leaving school but hasn’t managed to gain employment due to lack of experience. This has knocked his confidence over the years and has even stopped him from applying for some jobs or attending interviews to gain employment.
Daniel feels that he has gained a lot of experience throughout the programme that has given him a lot more confidence in the workplace, whilst enabling him to communicate effectively with staff and customers alike. As a result of Daniels participation in the programme, he has gained employment as a ‘Logistics Porter’ with Wasps partnered catering company Delaware North, based at the Arena. The role entails supporting various departments by moving stock and inventory across the venue, setting areas up for meetings, events and match days, overall stadium preparation.
Daniel is looking forward to getting stuck into his new job role, gain further experience within the workplace, and progress into higher roles within the business as time goes on. Daniel enjoys the stadium environment and is looking forward to progression in his career.
‘Since starting the programme Daniel has engaged from the off, he has completed a great amount of classroom work to a high standard, he has been extremely enthusiastic in all areas of his work experience, the outcome being that he now has a job, I am really happy and proud that the traineeship has helped Daniel gain employment and I am excited to see how he progresses’ Dom Owen (Hitz Officer)
‘I have enjoyed the programme throughout, I was more than willing to do the full 15 weeks of the course, the ultimate goal being to gain employment at the end of the traineeship, but to have the opportunity to apply and gain employment earlier has been brilliant, I am so glad I took part in the traineeship’ Daniel Coleman (Hitz Traineeship Student)
