Dai Young names powerful 23 for vital Premiership clash

Date: 27 Apr 2018

Dai Young has named the same backline that started the recent win over Worcester for Sunday’s crucial Aviva Premiership round 21 clash with Midlands rivals Northampton Saints at the Ricoh Arena.

This means Dan Robson, who this week has signed a new contract, starts at scrum half with Danny Cipriani, Jimmy Gopperth and Juan De Jongh forming a potent midfield trio.
In the pack, loose head props Simon McIntyre and Matt Mullan switch starting and bench roles as do hookers Tommy Taylor and Tom Cruse.
Irish international prop Marty Moore, who completes the complement of front row replacements, is in line to make his 50thWasps appearance.
He is joined on an impactful bench by experienced quartet James Haskell, Joe Simpson, Kearnan Myall and Gaby Lovobalavu plus the pacy Josh Bassett.

Director of rugby Dai Young said:
"Northampton showed a couple of weeks ago at Welford Road that they are more than capable of turning any team over.
“They will now be pulling their sleeves up ready to face another local rival this week, as I'm sure they would love to come to the Ricoh and do the same to us.
"They are always solid at the setpiece and we'll have to make sure our scrum is fully focused.
"Their driving lineout is another strong area, and they are pretty direct behind that, so we know what's coming, but we've still got to stop it.
"After having the odd week off during March and April we're in a pretty good place now and are looking forward to having two games on the bounce over the next couple of weeks."
