Ben Onyeama-Christie joins Wasps Academy on student contract

Date: 31 Jul 2018

Academy manager Jonathan Pendlebury has announced that Ben Onyeama-Christie has joined Wasps' senior academy squad on a student contract for the 2018/19 season.

Prop forward Ben Onyeama-Christie played for London Scottish in the Championship last season, whilst on a placement year from Loughborough University.

Upon leaving the Exiles and returning to Loughborough for the final year of his degree, Christie has been signed up by Wasps on a tailored University-Rugby hybrid academy contract.

Similar to last year, where Ben combined work with rugby, he will now balance his final year of his degree with being part of the Senior Academy with Wasps.

The Bristol born prop has followed former London Scots Joe Atkinson and Ross Neal up the motorway to Coventry to join Wasps.

Christie was also part of the Wasps team that were runners up at the Premiership Rugby 7s this past weekend.

Jonathan Pendlebury Said: "Ben is a quick, dynamic prop with a good ability to carry and is continuing to develop his set piece, which obviously we want to support him with here.

"He is returning to Loughborough University to complete his studies and alongside this will aim to push for selection in the new Premiership Rugby Shield and Premiership Rugby Cup to develop his game. Whilst also having the flexibility on break weeks from these competitions to play BUCS rugby or for the Students National League Team."
