Ben Harris commits future to Wasps
Date: 25 Dec 2018
Wasps are delighted to confirm that loosehead prop Ben Harris has signed a new deal to stay at the Club.
Harris first represented Wasps when he provided injury cover during a loan spell from Newcastle Falcons in 2016 before signing for the men in Black and Gold ahead of the 2017/18 season.
The England Counties prop enjoyed an impressive campaign, making 17 appearances and starting in the Premiership semi-final against Saracens.
Harris previously spent two seasons with Championship outfit Rotherham Titans in his earlier days, before joining Yorkshire Carnegie in 2012 and during the next three seasons established himself as an indispensable member of the squad who won numerous man-of-the-match awards during his 65 appearances.
A season with Newcastle followed, during which the Huddersfield-born prop played eight times.
At 6ft 4ins and over 125kg, the 29-year-old is a man mountain in the scrum, having already made 33 appearances in the Black and Gold.
Wasps Director of Rugby Dai Young said: “Ben has seized his opportunities with both hands and really impressed in the scrum, especially in recent months.
“He has got his head down and worked hard and has proved he has what it takes to perform at the top level.”
Harris said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time at Ricoh Arena so far and I’m over the moon to sign a new deal.
“It’s an honour to pull on the Black and Gold especially in such big occasions as the Premiership semi-final and Heineken Champions Cup, and hopefully now I can go on to enjoy more special memories with the Club.”
