Andy Goode returns to Wasps in commercial role

Date: 14 Sep 2017

Former Wasps and England fly half Andy Goode will return to Wasps in a new guise this season, as an Ambassador for the Club.

Goode’s new role will include corporate hosting and providing expert analysis on Wasps’ home games for hospitality guests at the Ricoh Arena.

Coventry-born Goode, who won 17 caps for England, made an immediate impact on his return to his home city, on 21 December 2014, when he bagged a record 33-point haul during a man of the match performance in Wasps’ first Premiership game at the Ricoh Arena. He went on to win the prestigious Golden Boot Award that season.

Since his retirement from professional rugby, Goode has proven himself as an accomplished analyst for leading broadcasters such as BT Sport and Sky Sports. Goode and Jim Hamilton’s light hearted approach to the game has also developed a strong following as they co-host “The Rugby Pod” podcast. Alongside media commitments, Goode is forging a successful career in the City as Head of Strategic Sales at foreign exchange experts, Moneycorp.

The new corporate role starts this Sunday when Wasps host Harlequins at the Ricoh Arena. The move means guests will now have access to two players who have been key figures in Wasps dressings rooms over recent years, following last season’s addition of former Scotland international Hugo Southwell as Commercial Ambassador for the STEAK. restaurant. Wasps supporters will also continue to be able to enjoy the ever-popular Q&As led by Wasps’ MC David Kurk and current players in the Club House and Fan Village.

Speaking about his renewed involvement with the club, Andy Goode said:

“I’m really excited to be back involved with Wasps. Having been part of the initial move and the transition to Wasps’ new era at the Ricoh Arena, it has been fantastic to see the club going from strength-to-strength over the past couple of seasons. I’m really excited by the potential there still is for the club to develop and progress off the field and I’m looking forward to being part of that and to helping the club grow in any way I can.”

Wasps’ Head of Hospitality Sales, James Wootton, added: “We are all looking forward to having Andy back on board at the Ricoh Arena and have no doubt that he will be a big hit with our hospitality guests, providing plenty of entertainment as well as knowledgeable insight into the game.

“Goodey is a popular figure in the rugby world and we’re sure our guests’ trips to the Ricoh Arena will be greatly enhanced by his unique sense of humour and insight. We are fortunate to be able to offer a wide range of hospitality options at the Ricoh Arena and players of Andy's and Hugo’s standing in the game will add further to the memorable experiences we try to offer on match day. As former Wasps players, they know what the club stands for and are passionate about its future, so it will be great to have them involved.”

A variety of hospitality packages are available during the season at the Ricoh Arena, ranging from relaxed informal dining in the Legends Lounge to luxury four course dining in Premier Club, STEAK. or the privacy of our Executive Boxes.
