Programme Overview

At Wasps we like to play exciting, entertaining rugby and score lots of tries and points and it’s no different on the Wasps Rugby Camps.

All Wasps Rugby Camps will be delivered in line with the latest Government and RFU guidance. All activity aligns with the RFU Age-Grade Summer Activity Framework, ensuring the activities are delivered safely for all participants and staff. Each camp will strictly adhere to all current advice and thorough measures will be put in place to ensure the safety of all.

Additional measures include:

  • One-way systems in operation for any access to toilets/indoor space (if necessary)
  • Social distancing at sign in/out and during breaks
  • Regular breaks during training for hydration, hand sanitisation and equipment cleaning
  • Sharing of equipment to be minimal and only when necessary (and no sharing of training bibs)
  • No sharing of water bottles
  • No handshakes/huddles

With a reduced level of physical contact, the camps will be largely focused on touch-rugby based games aimed at developing game/spatial awareness, technical rugby skills and game management. Where appropriate, we will utilise the regulated contact training time to ensure we focus on technique and skill development for each player. We have split the age groups for each camp to ensure the number of people on site at any time is controlled and our coaching provided is applicable to where you are in your rugby journey.

We welcome children of all levels to join us, now’s a great time to get back on the field, be active and enjoy playing sport in a safe environment!

The day before the camp is due to start, we will send you a Covid-19 self-assessment check to complete online prior to attending the camp, please ensure this is completed before arriving at the rugby camp venue.

Whilst we will take every precaution to ensure the safety of everyone at our rugby camps, we cannot be held responsible if someone who has attended the camp was to later display symptoms of Covid-19.

"The Coachclass was excellent. The groups were well structured and the coaches catered for all abilities within the group." - Nicki Watts (parent)

Reviews

Nicki Watts (parent)

"The Coachclass was excellent. The groups were well structured and the coaches catered for all abilities within the group. The players knew what was expected of them and were motivated and, best of all, very happy. It's refreshing to find a course focusing on "real" rugby which was fun but let the boys get stuck in. This was not dumbed down rugby coaching."

Caroline Bowkley (parent)

"A little note for a big thanks to let you know what a fabulous time Jacques had last week, he is still talking about it, he was exhausted at the end of each day and got the 'Most Improved Player Award'! He was so happy he switched his allegiance from the Quins to the Wasps – need we say more? All in all a huge success for us and we can't wait for the next Coachclass."

Kerry Joseph (parent)

"This is the first time Josh has attended a Coachclass program at Wasps and he had a wonderful time. The coaching and feedback he received was top class and tremendously useful; giving him both confidence and constructive advice to help him develop his rugby skills at a high level."

Ellie Pritchard (parent)

"Patrick thoroughly enjoyed the course, so much so he was asking when he could do it again on the Saturday. Patrick's not the most confident of boys and experiences within school and his club haven't helped, however your positive attitude and support had him really buzzing after the course, thank you!"

Amanda Dipper (parent)

"Just a few lines to thank you and all the coaches for providing another outstanding Coachclass session. Our son Mark has been attending these courses for several years now and we never fail to be impressed by the high standard of coaching and huge level of commitment that you guys demonstrate. Thank you."
