About the role

To service, maintain and repair all Electrical and Mechanical services, plant and equipment to a recognised safe standard to all Ricoh Arena facilities in order that the Organisation operates effectively and efficiently.

Key Areas of Responsibility 

Main objectives:

  • To undertake in-house training and inductions as directed by the MaintenanceSupervisor or Facilities Manager.
  • Respond to the Maintenance Supervisor in implementing a planned preventative maintenance programme.

  • To undertake skilled electrical and mechanical tasks, installation work and general maintenance work to Company facilities and equipment.
  • To work flexibly as part of a team and assist all other departments when necessary to enable the venue to operate effectively.
  • To understanding and maintaining the facility’s Electrical and mechanical services, BMS, fire alarm, air conditioning systems, cooling plant, heating and ventilation systems. 

Other duties:

  • Undertake general building maintenance works to Company facilities and equipment.
  • Undertake water management testing and inspections in accordance with current regulations and record findings.
  • To undertake and carry out ladders, steps and access equipment inspections and record findings.
  • Supports and advises the Maintenance Supervisor of new electrical and mechanical designs and improvements to facilities to improve the quality and efficiency of the service provided.
  • Supports the Maintenance Supervisor / Facilities Manager in liaising with Managers, contractors and other agencies in connection with Exhibitions, designs, displays, events to include security improvements or other specialised building and construction work.
  • Maintains awareness and adheres to current good working practices that conform to health and safety regulations and legislation.
  • Advises the Maintenance Supervisor or other Managers of incidents or readings, which may indicate serious existing or potential problems so an informed judgment can be made.
  • Carry out pre-match and post-match checks for all Rugby and Football Matches or major events to all designated areas as determined by the Maintenance Supervisor or Facilities Manager.
  • To understand and operate the building management systems responding to temperature requests and climate adjustments. Training will be provided.
  • Work a flexible 40 hour a week system on 5 out of 7 days to cover the Arena’s programme of special events and Match days.
  • Available on a voluntary call out basis to cover any urgent electrical / mechanical issues
  • Be part of an on call rota to cover the onsite casino tenant on 1 out of 5 weekends

The Successful Candidate

Education / qualifications:

The candidates should be time served or skilled in electrical and mechanical engineering.

Possess a City and Guilds qualification parts 1 & 2.  236 or equivalent training.

Electrical Qualified 17th Edition regulations

Experience:

The candidate must have practical experience working in large commercial buildings, exhibition halls, multi-functional facilities, hotels or similar. 

Skills and abilities:

Be able to work on their own initiative.

To drive and possess a full clean driving licence.

Ability to work as part of a multi-skilled team and meet deadlines.

A flexible approach to work and types of work to be undertaken.

Must be physically fit and be prepared to work at height.

To have adequate communication skills both verbal and written to

  1. Complete work administration sheets and operate a handheld PDA to receive and sign off tasks.
  2. Deal with tenants, customers, staff and colleagues courteously and professionally. 

Knowledge:

Awareness of relevant Building Regulations and codes of practice.

Must have a flexible approach and a willingness to train and be developed to meet the department’s future needs.

Awareness of and a commitment to health and safety and its legal requirements.

Hours of work:

This is a full time role of 40 hours per week working 5 out of 7 days. The flexibility to work outside normal office hours and cover event days both match and non-match days where required which will include weekends and public holidays.

There is also a requirement to be part of the out of hours call-out rota for the casino tenant 1 week in any 5.

Wasps acquired the Ricoh Arena in October 2014 and set an Aviva Premiership attendance record for a home ground fixture in their first game at their new home, in December of that year. With this ground breaking acquisition Wasps is now one of the largest rugby clubs in Europe with world class facilities.

About the role

To work within the Event Planning Team achieving successful delivery of Conference and Meeting Business at the Ricoh Arena. 

To enhance the standard of events and increase the incremental sales spend of the event. 

Proactively working with organisers to achieve a successful event for both the organisers and the venue.

To operate and maintain the venue booking system (Delphi), produce detailed Event Banqueting Orders ensuring the highest standards of accuracy within a set time scale for customers, staff and management information

Collecting all event feedback from clients post event to achieve successful rebook of future events

Key tasks will include; 

  • Liaise with clients to create detailed Event Banqueting Orders for both Clients and Venue Operational Teams 
  • Providing Venue, Contractor and Partner Information to clients to help with the smoothing running of the Conference or Meeting
  • Liaise with onsite and offsite contractors arranging additional services for clients and drive incremental revenue
  • Accurately process all documentation and correspondence in a timely manner
  • Attend pre-event client and contractor meetings to obtain final event details for venue operational teams
  • Ensure all event documentation is signed off by both client and contractors and submitted to venue teams within agreed venue timeliness
  • Working with Health and Safety Manager to ensure that all H&S Documentation is completed and submitted within set timelines
  • Liaise regularly with operational departments to ensure clients expectations and requirements are met
  • Ensure detailed P&Ls are produced all events over £10,000.00 achieving set profit percentages
  • Representing the department in professional manner to clients, suppliers and internal colleagues
  • Gathering post event feedback from events and circulating to relevant departments
  • Attend weekly operational function sheet meetings, event planning meetings and monthly exhibition internal meeting
  • Management of client accounts to increase business growth and re-booking of events

About the role

The role will include work alongside the Wasps VNSL coaching team, the University of Birmingham performance staff and will also be part of the England Netball CPD programme. The aim of the role is to help develop the next generation of Wasps and England netball players.

Both Wasps and Wasps U21’s are current 2017 Champions whilst Birmingham University are a BUCS Premier League Team. This role gives the coach a perfect opportunity to work with some of the most talented age group players in the country and a chance to build on and create an elite performance programme through delivery, development and recruitment.

You will need to have experience of developing talented young players and coaching in a performance environment whether that be club, education or other pathway roles.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Netball Coach wishing to pursue a career in high performance coaching. It’s a chance to be involved with the current Superleague Champions on their journey to producing the best talent in the league, as well as help players develop the skills and talent to help England become number 1 in the world.

Job Title: Senior Academy Transitional Coach

Position Overview

The purpose of this role is to provide the coaching and management of Senior Academy players.

Key Activities

  • Provide skill development sessions that include, core skills, position specific skills and game understanding during the training week, which includes the organisation, planning and delivery of these sessions.
  • Provide regular written development plans for Players, planned in conjunction with the Academy Manager and S&C staff.
  • Attend, review and provide feedback of games played by the players, both for Wasps, Loan Clubs and at Junior International level.
  • Conduct regular player performance feedback sessions with all Senior Academy players.
  • To attend meetings as required by the Director of Rugby and Head of Recruitment.
  • To contribute positively to the Academy environment and culture.
  • Full commitment to developing the players on and off the field, assisting with resolving any day to day issues and ensuring they are supported within the team environment and during their rest periods.
  • To provide coaching support for the Wasps A team . To attend all A team games.
  • Deliver coaching sessions for the non 23 squad players as directed by the Wasps skills coach.
  • Support /assist coaching the Wasps Academy u18 and u16 teams when required to , by the Academy Manager.
  • Working hours required:
  • 5 days per week to include weekends; 7.5hrs a day following the Rugby schedule. Exact working schedule to be agreed with line manager.

Key Skills Required:

  • Level 3 or above RFU Coaching Award
  • Previous Coaching experience at elite level
  • Preferably a specialist skill-set of Backs coaching and playing experience, however outstanding candidates will be also considered

Wasps Developing Player Programme (DPP)


“Providing high quality player development experiences, encouraging lifelong participation in the game and enabling those with potential to be clearly identified and supported.”

The Wasps Academy has responsibility for developing potential elite players in a geographical region that covers Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Coventry and Warwickshire, with a DPP Centre in each of the regions. The DPP’s are a step on the player development pathway, with successful players progressing into the Wasps Junior Academy.

With the continued development and expansion of the Wasps DPP we are looking to recruit for a number of roles across all of our regions.

Some of the roles will receive a small payment towards expenses, with other roles being on a volunteer basis. All successful applicants will receive Wasps kit as well as free access to CPD events run by Wasps.

The majority of the sessions will run weekly during the rugby season on Monday evenings. There will be approximately 20 sessions throughout the season.

Successful candidates will be responsible for stewarding public areas of the stadium including the main hospitality areas ensuring that our guests receive excellent customer service through providing of clear and accurate information as well as ensuring the safety of our guests.
