Academy pre-season training with Warwickshire CCC
Wasps Academy spent a day with Warwickshire County Cricket Club Academy over the pre-season. Coach James Honeyben and Warwickshire coach Paul Greetham gave us their thoughts on how it went.
The day was organised by Matt Mullan's old school teacher and current Warwickshire County Cricket Club coach Paul Greetham.
Greetham said: "For us as coaches it is really good to share good practice, so we can do some workshops together and share how we select players for our academies and what criteria we use.
"So next month we are doing a coaches workshop, where a number of our coaches go to a session with the Wasps staff and discuss things such as talent identification."
Wasps' Academy coach James Honeyben said: "It was a fantastic opportunity for one of the leading county cricket clubs to link up with us.
"There are quite a lot of cross-over skills and from a social point of view it forced our guys out of their comfort zone. It put them in a situation they haven't been in before and got them communicating with other people and testing them socially as much as from a skills perspective."
In December there will be the swap over day where the Warwickshire CCC Academy players have a go at some rugby skills, coached by the Wasps Academy players, down at the Wasps training ground.
