Simon Amor

Having already built a reputation as a world class sevens player, Simon kicked off his Wasps career by lifting the Middlesex Sevens trophy in August 2007. A hugely talented all round footballer, Simon also made a swift impact in the 15-a-side game, challenging incumbent scrum half Eoin Reddan for the No9 shirt.

His inspirational attitude and commitment has allowed him to slot seamlessly into the team making the move to Wasps last season following four years at Gloucester. As well as making his mark at Wasps, Simon also continued to play on the sevens circuit in 2007, captaining the England team for the fifth successive season in the IRB Sevens Series to complete his seventh season with the squad.

An inspiration to all around him, his achievements include leading England to four successive Hong Kong Sevens titles, and to two London titles on home soil at Twickenham as well as being voted the inaugural IRB Sevens Player of the Year in 2004. As well as captaining the England Sevens side who secured a silver medal in Melbourne in 2006, Simon lists an impressive collection of representative honours for Middlesex, London & South East and England appearances at Schools, Colts, Students and U21 levels.

The Kingston-upon-Thames man is also a Cambridge Blue, having graduated with a degree in Management Studies and has recently added an MBA , via a long distance learning course with the University of the Southern Cross in Australia, to his list of educational achievements.

If international sevens rugby and studying weren't enough to fill Amor's time away from Wasps, arrival of baby Alfie earlier this year and an aim of learning to play golf will certainly help. Clearly a man who sets his aims to the highest standard Simon is looking to affirm his position in the 1XV in 2007/08 and with a healthy 19 appearances throughout 2006/07 - collecting a Man of the Match award against Bath in June along the way, he looks to build his list of accolades with Wasps this season.
