Born in Barry, Glamorgan , Lee Thomas started playing rugby professionally with Cardiff RFC in 2002.
He then played for Pontypridd and the Celtic Warriors before they were disbanded in 2004 and Thomas returned to Cardiff for two seasons before moving to Sale Sharks in 2006. He enjoyed four impressive seasons at Sale where he became known for his shuddering defensive tackles and hard diret running.
Thomas then joined French Top 14 side Lyon in 2010 helping his French team to promotion to the Top 14 in his first season.
Thomas joined Wasps in the summer of 2012 alongside another Lyon teammate James Bailey. Internationally Thomas captained Wales at all age levels up to Under-21.
