Born in Kettering , James Cannon started playing rugby at Kettering RFC, aged 12, and began his professional career at Northampton.
The giant lock arrived at Wasps ahead of the 2010/11 as a 21-year old who had made eight senior appearances for Northampton and he had been part of the England Under-20s Grand Slam-winning squad of 2008. His father is Northampton captain Vince Cannon, who made nearly 450 appearances for Northampton, and has been inducted into their Hall of Fame. A back injury restricted his appearances last year to just six for the Club, and he has made 29 in total in his first few seasons. He was rewarded for his work coming back from rehab with a contract extension last season.
