On Sunday 21st April 2013 our BRITA Community Cup kicked off at Farnham Royal RUFC in South Bucks, with over 300 players from 46 teams in the U7s and U8s age-groups. 24 x U8s teams and 22 x U7s teams travelled from all across the southern region to come together for the festival, with clubs from Middlesex, Essex, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire and Sussex participating.

London Wasps player Stuart Commins joined the festival to meet the young players and commented, "The BRITA Community Cup is a great opportunity for these young players to test their skills against new opponents. I was really impressed with the standard of play and how much effort the young kids were putting in. Tag Rugby looks like a really exciting game to play."

The U7s and U8s Cup Finalists formed our Tunnel of Honour to welcome the London Wasps and Exeter Chiefs players on to the Adams Park Stadium pitch, before warming up for their finals at the full-time whistle of the Aviva Premiership. The U7s Final was an all Brighton RFC affair with the 'Redbeards' playing the 'Blackbeards' with a shared Cup outcome. The U8s Final saw Old Whitgiftians RFC take on Guildfordians RFC in a very close game, with the lead changing hands on a few occasions before Old Whitgiftians RFC finally came out 5 - 4 winners.

London Wasps players James Cannon and Nicky Robinson watched the finals before joining Clive Seabrook (Managing Director of BRITA Water Filter Systems) to present the finalists with their medals and BRITA Fill & Go water bottles . Event Organiser Ian Isham told, "I would like to thank all of the players, coaches and parents for bringing their teams along and making the day such a success. Some of the rugby I have seen has been top class, and the sportsmanship shown by all has been really impressive. I look forward to next year where hopefully we can make BRITA Community Cup even bigger and better."

We would like to thank venue hosts Farnham Royal RUFC, Dair House School for allowing us to use their parking facilities, all of the players, coaches and spectators for contributing to a great grassroots rugby event and BRITA for their continued support.

Charles Gilbank from Wendens Ambo RFC said, "Thank you so much for today. What a wonderful tournament, extremely well run, efficient and a joy to play in. Our boys loved the atmosphere and the game and we hope to come again next year."

Jeremy Tilley from Brighton RFC said, "On behalf of Brighton Minis U7s and U8s I would like to thank you for a really well run tournament and the level of care we received from all the people involved from registration in the morning to the refereeing which was a great standard to the guys at Adams Park who looked after the kids so well. We had a great time and Wasps and BRITA have helped to create a lot of great memories for the kids and some of our hardier old Pirates."

Tim Jones from Brighton RFC said, "Once again, thank you Wasps for showing how to organise a festival and for creating the most special day for hundreds of 6, 7 and 8 year olds. They loved every minute, played their hearts out, cheered their hosts and went home tired and happy. The organisation was exemplary, the referees clear, fair and precise, and the timing perfect. And the weather helped.

Stuart Ashton from Drifters RFC said, "I just wanted to say thanks to you guys for yesterday! It was brilliantly organised and I’d like you to pass on my thanks to the referees that we had. It was a shame on missing out on making the U7s cup final on try difference but it didn’t impact on our day. Our guys are looking forward to having another tilt at the U8s cup next year."

Dave from Reading Abbey RFC said, "Would just like to say a big thank you from Abbey RFC for all your efforts yesterday. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it was a pleasure to attend such a well organised tournament."

John from Hampstead RFC said, "Thanks again for a great day it was a big step up for us as we'd not played at what was A team level so we knew it would stretch the players and with new rules first time it was great to have all that in one day. Our players really got stuck in and learnt a lot. The refs were great. Hope to see you at another event so please keep us on the mailing list!!"

Angela from Guilfordians RFC said, "Great festival and look forward to returning as U9's next year."
