London Wasps U18 side to play Bristol

The London Wasps U18 Academy game against Bristol will now take place at Maidenhead RFC on Saturday 2 February, kick off 11am.

Due to flooded conditions in the west country, with more rain forecast, the London Wasps Academy U18 game against Bristol will now take place at Maidenhead RFC.

Wasps have won two and lost one so far in the competition, with wins over London Irish and Bath, and will be looking to add another victory against Bristol this weekend.

Ahead of the game Academy Coach Chris Lloyd said:

“We are looking forward to the game against Bristol and know they pose some real threats as befits a club from such a traditionally strong rugby area.

Our side will be captained for the first time by Alex Harrison, in the absence of Alex Lunberg who, along with Akira Takenaka have been rested after being involved in a tough Daily Mail Cup win for Hampton school at Truro on Wednesday.”

“There have been lots of positives and lessons to be taken from all of the games so far and the last game against Saracens showed us we had a bit to learn in terms of managing the game and particularly territory. I have been very pleased by the lads input into us finding some better solutions on that front.”

“The change of venue brings us to familiar ground and I must thank Bristol for travelling up and for Maidenhead RFC for continually hosting us and our opponents, friends and family so well and particularly in making so much effort to get the pitch cleared of all of that snow for our last game.

“We hope to see a good crowd again which always adds to the experience for all of the lads. Every game we have had more black and gold in the crowd and that is great. The kick off time should allow any Wasps fans to make the short journey up the road to Adams Park for the afternoon game against Sale in the LV=Cup; hopefully enthused by the rugby they have seen from the next generation.”
