London Wasps 'Rise Above The Rest' 5-Day Summer Residential CoacHclass

Our 'Rise Above The Rest' 5-Day Summer Residential CoacHclass 2013 will be held at RAF Halton (nr Aylesbury, Bucks) on Monday 5th August to Friday 9th August for players aged 12yrs to 16yrs. Participants will enjoy a fantastic rugby & activity experience based on receiving:

  • 25 hours of high quality rugby coaching from London Wasps
  • A workbook with supplementary information on the educational session subjects
  • An assessment with strengths and areas to develop identified
  • Leadership and Lifestyle activities supported by the Royal Air Force
  • A full schedule of morning and evening activities
  • Guest visits by London Wasps backroom staff and players subject to availability
  • A London Wasps rucksack and London Wasps playing shirt

Why the London Wasps CoacHclass?
In the last ten years our CoacHclass has enabled thousands of players to enjoy a healthy and active programme during their
school holidays. We are proud that former CoacHclass players Sam Jones, Jack Wallace, Bob Baker and Alex Cheeseman all graduated through the London Wasps before representing the London Wasps team. Our player-centred approach has helped to develop, stretch and challenge:

  • our CoacHclass players' competence to perform technical and tactical skills
  • our CoacHclass players' confidence, positive self-worth and self-efficiency
  • our CoacHclass players' ability to make connections through positive bonds with people and institutions resulting in successful relationships

Our CoacHclass Delivery Team
Our RFU-qualified & CRB Certificated coaches work with their age-groups to improve individual core skills, unit skills and team skills. They work very hard to create an excellent player-centred learning environment to develop every player's core skills and game understanding. Our CoacHclass physio will be available throughout the entirety of the CoacHclass to manage the players bodies, provide injury treatment and rehabilitation. A London Wasps Academy coach will also be in attendance throughout the CoacHclass for our Academy Talent Identification Programme.

RAF Halton:
Royal Air Force Halton sits in the beautiful, undulating countryside of Buckinghamshire, 30 miles northwest of London; nestled between the Vale of Aylesbury and the start of the Chiltern Hills. RAF Halton is approximately 25 miles from Junction 20 of the M25. It also conveniently lies between 2 railway stations, Tring (which has a direct line to Euston, London) and Wendover (which has a direct line to Marylebone, London).

By road:

  • From Aylesbury: A413 (5miles) | From London: A413 (36 miles) | From M25 junction 20: A41 (Aylesbury) then B4009 (Wendover) (22miles) | From Uxbridge: A413 via Amersham | From Oxford/M40 junction 8A: via Thame A418 (Aylesbury) then A413 (Wendover) (19 miles) | Minor roads - M40 junction 6: B4009 Chinnor, Little Kimble, Terrick (Wendover) | From the East: Luton and Dunstable B489 (Ivinghoe) then B488 (Tring) and B4009 (Wendover)

By rail:

  • Chiltern Line trains between Aylesbury and London Marylebone operate twice hourly for most of the day. Details can be found here
  • London Midland trains between London Euston and Tring. Details can be found here

By air:

  • International participants should organise their flights and transfers from: London Heathrow (29 miles) | London Gatwick (65 miles) | London Luton (27 miles)
