Paul Emerick and Alec Hepburn at Wexham Park Hospital
We were delighted to accept the invitations from two local hospitals to meet some of their young patients, families and hospital staff in the lead up to Christmas.
On Thursday 20th December our leading try-scorer this season Tom Varndell and full back Jack Wallace visited the St Francis Ward at Stoke Mandeville Hospital near Aylesbury. The players joined our character mascot Sting to meet some of the children, and later visited the World-famous Spinal Injuries Unit.
Academy Prop Alec Hepburn and international centre Paul Emerick joined Sting at Wexham Park Hospital, near Slough on Friday 21st December. Each of the players gave out personalised Christmas Cards and gifts from London Wasps, whilst Sting played with some of the games with the youngsters.
After the visits, Community Rugby Manager Dave Larham told wasps.co.uk, "We recognise the importance of Christmas being a time for families and the role a club like London Wasps can play within our community at such a time as this. We wanted to demonstrate our support for those families affected by loved ones being in hospital during the festive period and hope that such a small gesture can help to lift their spirits."
Sting loves getting out in to our community and saying "hello" to everyone. If you would like Sting to support your event, please complete an enquiry form here
