Academy U18 League kicks off this week
London Wasps Academy Manager Rob Smith updates us on the new Academy U18 League, which kicks off on Saturday.
"This week sees the start of the new Academy U18 League, introduced by the RFU and Premiership Rugby.
The League is designed to combine the best players from the AASE based Academy programme with the best within the School based Academy system.
This first year will very much be a learning curve for all concerned with so much activity around these fixtures in terms of U18 SW Divisional Festival and the Schools U18 Daily Mail Festival operating at the same time.
However, I can guarantee London Wasps Academy will be very competitive in all games, with a large body of high quality players available for selection.
Hopefully, over the next few seasons, this League will grow in status and provide another significant stepping stone for the development of young, aspiring players."
