On Sunday 25th November we held our U9s and U10s Community Cup at Farnham Royal RUFC and Adams Park Stadium. This is the second year we have run the Community Cup and it has continued to grow in popularity as 44 teams from across the southern region entered the festival. Teams had travelled from Kent, Essex, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire to participate in the event and later watch London Wasps v Leicester Tigers in the Aviva Premiership.

At the Festival venue, the teams had the chance to meet London Wasps players Stephen Jones and Alec Hepburn who had taken the time to come down and watch some of the rugby action and meet the teams competing. Stephen Jones commented. "It's great to see so many young kids down here playing rugby. Everyone looks like they're having a great time and that's what these days are about; the kids enjoying playing rugby."

The U11s and U12s Cup Finals were later played on the Adams Park pitch after the full-time whistle of London Wasps victory over Leicester Tigers. The U9s Final saw a tense battle between Bromley RFC and Aylesford Bulls with the half time score at 3 – 3. Aylesford then produced a fine second half performance to emerge the winners 6 – 3. In the U10s Final, Marlow RUFC and Oxford Harlequins RFC produced a close first-half with Marlow leading 1 - 0; in the second-half, Marlow produced some great handling and off-loading skills to stretch their lead to 3 – 0 and record the win.

London Wasps players Tinus Du Plessis and Matt Everard were on hand to present the winners with their trophies.

Event Organiser Ian Isham told; "It was a fantastic day at both Farnham Royal RUFC and Adams Park. I was really impressed with how many teams came out to take part in a great day of rugby and coped with the weather conditions. The skills on show, from all of the teams, were great; and I look forward to next year when they come back and demonstrate how their skills have developed further."

We would like to thank venue hosts Farnham Royal RUFC, Dair House School for allowing us to use their parking facilities, and all of the players, coaches and spectators for contributing to a fantastic grassroots rugby event.
