Skipper Southwell urges big home support

London Wasps skipper Hugo Southwell has urged fans to get to Adams Park this weekend as his side prepares to face Worcester in their second home outing of the season there.

Wasps were comfortable bonus point winners over London Irish in their first clash at Adams Park and know that a victory over Worcester this weekend would give them a huge boost going into European action next weekend.

Southwell, who is hopeful of a return this weekend after a two week absence due to a hand injury, said:

“This game probably takes on a bit more importance now given the two away losses in the past few weeks, and we see our home games as hugely important."

"Ideally we need to be targeting wins in every single game at home and the bigger a crowd we can get there to help us do that the better. Five games in and we have four losing bonus points and a win under our belts and it would give us a big confidence boost to make that two wins before the European break.”

Southwell believes that while Wasps have taken time to gel together as a squad, there is plenty of evidence that things will begin to click for the team.

“It was always going to take us some time and that will come the more we play together and I have every confidence that we’ll start to pick up those wins we need when it does. It’s a very enjoyable atmosphere at the Club at the moment, we have a stronger squad than we had last season and everyone is well up for the challenges we have ahead. Hopefully we can give a big crowd something to cheer about on Sunday.”
