Wasps U18 team to play London Irish on Friday

Wasps Academy return to Academy U18 League action against London Irish on Friday night at Maidenhead RFC, kick off 19:30.

After an opening day win over Bath at the Ricoh Arena, and a friendly victory over Bedford Blues, the Academy side will go into this match looking to build on their positive start to the season.

Academy Manager Matt Davies said "We have had some really tight games against Irish at this age group over the past two seasons, and they will pose a real threat to us on Friday. However, our main aim is see an improvement from our last performance, and continue to build week-on-week through the Christmas period and beyond through to the end of the Academy League season.

"We are giving an opportunity to two of our U16s on Friday. Playing in this type of fixture can only enhance their development and, alongside the U18s who featured in the A League side v Quins two weeks ago, I am really looking forward to seeing them express themselves and continue their learning in this game."

The young Wasps side will follow up the fixture against London Irish with games against Saracens (Dec 18th) and Exeter (Jan 2nd), before New Year fixtures against Bristol, Harlequins and Bedford. This Friday's match at Maidenhead RFC kicks off at 7.30pm and admission is free.
