Academy welcome first team and former players to training
Wasps Academy players have enjoyed a great couple of weeks of training and have been joined by some illustrious guests at their sessions.
Wasps Academy were lucky enough to welcome first team players George Smith, Sam Jones and Thomas Young to a training session two weeks ago. The trio got involved in a coaching session with the U18s and provided some useful insights into the techniques used in first team training.
Then last week they welcomed former players Tom Rees and Serge Betsen to training. Betsen's charity has recently become the official charity partner of the Academy. The former French international gave a brief presentation on how the Academy's players can get involved with the charity, before taking part in the training session.
Rees said: "It was nice coming back to the training ground and it all seemed very familiar. Given that it was Serge and I, it's not too surprising that our session was based around the tackle and the breakdown."
Betsen said: "I'm really pleased to link up with the Academy, it is great to be able to come back and support the boys. I live round the corner and it is always nice to come back and try and help build the success of the Wasps team."
Academy Performance Manager Ian Taplin said: "It has been a really productive couple of weeks of training for our players. To have experienced internationals such as George, Tom and Serge come down to take sessions, is a great opportunity for our players to learn off some of the very best.
"We are really grateful to all of the guys for spending their valuable time, helping us prepare for our upcoming matches and I am sure we are going to see the difference in the games."
