Jacobs signs on for more with Wasps

Wasps can today confirm that Ben Jacobs has signed a contract extension with the Club to keep him in black and gold.

The experienced, hard-running centre, who returned to the Club in 2013, has made 77 appearances in black and gold. Jacobs enjoyed a great run of form this season, including a run of seven starts, before injury cut short his playing time.

On the extension, Director of Rugby Dai Young said: “We’re really pleased to keep Ben at the Club. He has been a valuable member of this squad since he returned from Australia and, this season in particular, has shown that he has a lot to add to this group both on and off the field. Unfortunately a shoulder injury ended his season early, but he is working hard to get back out on the field and we’re looking forward to having him back playing.”

Ben Jacobs said: “I’m very pleased to have signed a new deal. The Club’s definitely heading in the right direction and I love it over here. I love Wasps, it’s like my second family and I’m really enjoying it. The Coventry move has been a fantastic thing for the Club; all the people up there have really embraced it and it’s great to see so many of our long-standing Wasps fans watching us at the Ricoh as well. We are all really looking forward to what we can do in a settled home.

“I was really enjoying my time out there on the pitch, enjoying my rugby and I am very happy to extend my contract to stay at this Club for a little while longer. There is a lot of good talent, a lot of young talent as well, which is great. I’ve really enjoyed playing with those guys and I look forward to continuing to build those relationships and helping the younger guys improve.”

Jacobs joins the following list of players who have already extended their contracts with Wasps; Josh Bassett, Chris Bell, James Cannon, Carlo Festuccia, James Haskell, Nathan Hughes, Ruaridh Jackson, Ben Jacobs, Joe Launchbury, Simon McIntyre and Phil Swainston, in addition to the players already committed to the Club.
