Wasps Team to play Castres Olympique

Dai Young has named his Wasps squad for the away trip to Castres Olympique this Sunday, in Round 3 of the European Rugby Champions Cup.

England internationals Matt Mullan and James Haskell return to the starting line-up, with Haskell skippering the side from the back-row, which also features Ashley Johnson and Nathan Hughes. Ben Jacobs and Charlie Davies start at centre and scrum half in place of the injured Chris Bell and Joe Simpson.

Fly-half Alex Lozowski and academy scrum half Tom Bliss could make their European debuts from the bench, just five weeks after making their LV=Cup debut for the senior squad.

Wasps Director of Rugby Young said: “While we were disappointed with last weekend’s result against Leicester Tigers, the performance was a marked improvement on the previous week against Exeter and I was pleased with the response from the boys. There’s no question we will need to step it up again this weekend as we head to the South of France for our next European clash.

“Castres may have had some disappointing results in the Top 14, but we all know how much talent they have in their squad and how much pride French teams have performing in front of their home supporters. So we are expecting a really tough encounter in front of a passionate crowd.

“This is a huge game for us. An away win would put us right back on track in Europe with everything still to play for, so there is no shortage of motivation in the squad to put in a winning performance.”
