Match Reaction: Dai Young Post Bath
Dai Young gives his reaction to the 29-22 win over Bath Rugby at Adams Park.
After the game, Dai Young said that he was really pleased with the way his side had played for 65 minutes of the game, putting everything they had talked about before the game into action.
"For 65 minutes I thought that we were outstanding; we delivered everything we talked about. Obviously we changed a few players, which we had to do with those guys started to feel the effects of what was a pretty physically demanding game, and we lost a bit of physicality which let them back into the game. Their substitutes came on and put us under a bit of pressure up front but we certainly would have taken that result before the game."
"Bath are a real quality outfit and I thought we put them under severe pressure for 65 minutes, stopping them playing, but they showed how good they are in coming back towards the end of the game."
"Everything we talked about we delivered. We had a spell just after half time when we had a few pressure moments during which, if we had come away with points, we could have killed the game off. With fifteen minutes to go I knew that Bath weren't dead and buried, they are always going to come back at you and luckily we held them off."
Young had special mention for the front row, who took the Bath pack apart at times in the game and gave Wasps the platform from which to play.
"I thought that our front from were outstanding today. The back row were very good and will have grabbed the headlines but it was all built on a very good foundation from the front row, and the second row. The whole pack really fronted up and the backs didn't look too bad either."
Now Wasps turn their attentions to the European Champions Cup, where they will travel to Dublin to face Leinster.
"Leinster is a game we're looking forward to. We fought really hard to be in the European Champions Cup this year and those games are ones we are looking forward to. We know that we will have to play for 80 minutes like we did for 65 today but we're excited."
Young also made a final mention of the support, who came out in their numbers for the game after a tough week for supporters.
"There has been a lot said this week but what you can't doubt is the size and the strength of the support today. There was a lot of disappointment and frustration out there in the early part of this week but once we had the chance to explain the facts we won a lot of people over. The big thing for everyone involved with the Club is that Wasps are still here in ten years time and I think that everyone can see that is where we are working towards."
