Hughes excited for The Stinger

We caught up with Nathan Hughes this week ahead of The Stinger this Saturday.

Hughes has found himself in brilliant form as the season moves into the business end and Wasps face some season-defining fixtures.

Man of the Match in the last two games, Hughes has put his hand up for a regular spot in an ultra-competetive back row and he says that this weekend's fixture is one that everyone wants to play in.

"You keep fighting for your position every week, you just have to keep performing when you get the opportunity to play showing that you want to keep the jersey. Everytime we go out there the boys give 100%, you have to go that little bit further to keep that jersey."

“Everyone’s really excited about the game, we played them two weeks ago and we beat them so that has got to give us some confidence going into it. It’s always going to be a big game playing at Twickenham and preparation has been going really well, so I think we can step it up another level.”

"As a team we won’t dwell on the Leicester loss. We put together some great periods of play, but also have a lot of work-ons. We just have to focus on this week at Twickenham, prepare well and focus on the game"

This weekend's fixture marks the start of a hugely important run of games with an Amlin Semi Final against Bath at Adams Park next weekend and the last home game of the Aviva Premiership season the weekend after. Hughes says that the team can't get too far ahead of themselves and have to focus on each game as it comes.

"We have to approach these run of games one week at a time. If we win this weekend there’s a high chance we can secure that 7th place, we’ll focus on Gloucester first and then focus on Bath next week."
