The annual Chairman's Cup, former holder of the Guinness World Record for "Largest Tag Rugby Competition held on one day", is a Tag Rugby festival for schools from across Oxfordshire to pit their skills against the county's best players. The festival is tiered into 3 levels, which allows the less experienced teams to develop their skills against other schools at a similar level, thus supporting their learning, and providing a positive day out for players of all abilities and experiences.

During the day, Wasps Coachclass Development Officer Ryan Hunt, Schools Programme Officer Ben Smiley and Community Coach Luke Brookes refereed a number of games, and coached players and teams that were not playing at different times during the afternoon. Later in the day, Sting flew up the M40 to visit the 400+ young Tag Rugby players, posing for photos and helping with the presentations.

In the Chairman's Cup Final, Thame-based John Hampden Primary School beat the Batt CE Primary School from Witney.

After Wasps' support of the Oxfordshire Chairman's Cup, Schools Programme Officer Ben Smiley told wasps.co.uk: "The Chairman's Cup is a fantastic event that allows hundreds of children to showcase their Tag Rugby skills in a full-on afternoon of games. With 10 Community Partner Clubs in Oxfordshire, and many others with whom we work on a more informal basis, we are always looking to work to help the clubs promote themselves in their local schools, through our Community Schools Programme. Lots of Primary Schools in Oxfordshire have received coaching from Wasps in the last 10 years, and it is great to see schools that we engaged with six or seven years ago still entering teams into the Chairman's Cup, which really is a great way for schools to end their rugby season. Everyone at Wasps would like to congratulate everyone involved with the Chairman's Cup, particularly Gary Morris [RFU Community Rugby Coach for Oxfordshire], for yet another fantastic event."

Our support of the Oxfordshire Chairman's Cup forms a part of the Wasps Community Schools Programme. Wasps are committed to developing Tag Rugby and Rugby in schools throughout Buckinghamshire, East Berkshire, Middlesex and Oxfordshire, doing so in partnership with their Community Partner Clubs, through a variety of one-off or a series of in or extra curricular, in or outdoors rugby engagements.
