Under 9s BRITA Cup Winners - Hemel Hempstead Knights
On Saturday 3rd May 2014 our BRITA Cup kicked off at Farnham Royal RUFC in South Bucks, with over 300 players from 27 teams across the Under 9s and Under 10s age-groups. Teams travelled from across the Wasps Community to take part in the Tag Rugby Festival sponsored by BRITA.
The U9 festival format saw the 18 teams taking part in group stages before all teams progressed into the knockout stages in the Cup, Plate, Bowl, Shield or Trophy.
The U10 age group format had 9 teams play a group stage before all progressed into the Cup, Plate or Bowl Round Robin. These formats provided each team with a chance to play lots of games against a wide range of opposition.

Wasps Club Captain and Centre Chris Bell and Winger Josh Bassett visited the festival to meet the young players and present the trophies. After the event Chris said, "It is great to see so many young players coming out and taking part in grass roots events like this. I have been impressed with the standard of the games I have been able to watch hopefully these players will continue to improve and could be Wasps players in the future.”
The Under 9s and Under 10s Cup winners formed the Tunnel of Honour at Adams Park Stadium to welcome the Wasps and Newcastle Falcons players on to the pitch before their Aviva Premiership clash. At half-time the players again took to the pitch to parade their silverware before being congratulated by Wasps second row Kearnan Myall.

Following their participation in the Under 10s, Eastleigh RFC organiser Nikki Worsdell emailed to say: "Congratulations and thanks go to Wasps Community team for yet another well organised festival. The standard of refereeing was not only of a high quality, but supportive and informative for all the players. Eastleigh RFC are proud of our Community Partnership with Wasps and are already looking forward to next season’s festivals!"
Anthony Kempster from Beccehamian RFC U9s, emailed to say: "I would just like to thank you and everyone involved in making Saturday such a great day. The BRITA Cup was very well organised, ran like clockwork and I have had nothing but positive feedback from our parents and children. They loved it."
Wasps' programme of matchday festivals for the 2013-14 season is complete, and following the success of the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup, Stinger Tag Rugby Cup and the BRITA Cup events, we will be running them again next season.
