The former Cardiff Blues and Canada flanker embarked on a coaching career after hanging up his boots in 2005. He joined the Blues’ strength and conditioning team before moving to the Welsh Rugby Union in 2011.
Working under Head of Physical Performance Adam Beard, Baugh has been part of a physical performance team that has won rave reviews and that has assisted Wales in winning two RBS 6 Nations titles, including a Grand Slam, and reaching the semi-final of the 2011 RWC. He also headed up the nation’s strength and conditioning programme for their recent tour of Japan.
On the appointment, Director of Rugby Dai Young said “We are really pleased to bring in someone of the calibre of Dan to head up our Strength and Conditioning team. Since he joined the WRU in 2011, Dan has been an integral part of a physical performance team that has helped the national team achieve some brilliant things. We are all looking forward to Dan joining our team and benefiting from his experience.”
Dan Baugh said “I have been very fortunate in my time with the Wales set-up to be part of the resurgence in Welsh rugby. I have loved my time working with the national side but I am hugely excited by the role at Wasps and the challenge that it presents.”
