Young was pleased with the win in poor conditions at Adams Park.
“We were nowhere near as good as we were last week but they were always going to improve and it’s a good result for us. They were physical up front and caused us problems there today but if you had offered us nine points at the start of the two games I would have snapped your hand off.”
Young’s side was forced into a reshuffle in the week with a number of players ruled out through injury and he was pleased with how his players coped, especially with Elliot Daly being forced into scrum half early in the game, with Jack Moates hobbling off.
“We had to reorganise a lot today and the boys did well. Elliot is a very talented all rounder and has obviously moved around the backline a lot for us. I thought he did really well. We had practiced this week with him and Tommy Bell in there and Elliot was the most comfortable. We are hopeful both Charlie Davies and Joe Simpson will be fit next week but in a tough position he coped admirably."
Wasps are now three points clear at the top of their Amlin Challenge Cup Pool with one more trip to France to come to play Bayonne – a match Young says will be vital.
“It will be a massive game for both sides. They won’t want to lose at home and it’s going to be a big one.”
