Davies joins Wasps with excellent credentials in both coaching and administration in rugby, with previous roles including a Development Officer position at the RFU and an Academy Player Development Manager role at Saracens, where he also had coaching responsibilities with the Club’s U18 Academy side and A side.
Davies will implement and deliver a strategic plan for the London Wasps Academy, which over the years has produced a raft of top English talent. As part of his role, he will oversee the development of the Club’s Academy talent both from an athletic and personal perspective, while preparing them for a career in professional rugby.
London Wasps Director of Rugby Dai Young said: “The London Wasps Academy plays a vital role in providing a pipeline of players for the Club’s senior squad and develop young English talent. We were impressed with Matt’s background and vision and we look forward to him taking on the role.”
Davies added: “I am delighted to be taking up this position with the Club. Wasps have a huge tradition and track record of success, not only on the field but in the identification and development of young English players. I aim to help build on that tradition, and the outstanding work of Rob Smith over the years.”
