Wasps win big at RPA awards

Christian Wade completed a unique double at the 15th annual RPA Computacenter Players’ Awards last night.

The Wasps’ winger became the first player ever to be crowned both Computacenter Players’ Player of the Year and LV= Young Player of the Year, as voted for by his fellow Aviva Premiership players.

Only Jonny Wilkinson has won both awards before but these were in separate years, 1999 and 2003.

Wade, who finished joint top try scorer in the Aviva Premiership with 13 tries alongside Wasps’ team-mate Tom Varndell is regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in English Rugby. His impressive strike rate this season saw him score 18 tries in 26 appearances while overall, the 22-year-old has made 50 appearances for Wasps and scored a total of 32 tries so far whilst playing for the Club.

Wade won the Wasps Players' Player of the Year award in recent weeks.

To round off a fantastic evening for the Club, Joe Launchbury was awarded the Monitise England Player of the Year 2013 after a breakthrough season.

The Monitise England Player of the Year Award has been introduced at an exciting time for English rugby and is designed to recognise the England Player of the Year. The award was voted for by each member of the England EPS squad who has featured in the match day 23 during the 2012 QBE Internationals and the 2013 RBS 6 Nations.

Both Wade and Launchbury were earlier this month named as part of the England Squad to tour Argentina.

A huge congratulations to both winners.
