This season the London Wasps Community Foundation donated more than £15,000 worth of match tickets to help charities to raise over £50,000

London Wasps Community Foundation is the charitable arm of London Wasps and was established in 2007 to help build a legacy for sport, education, health and social cohesion within our community.

We use the London Wasps brand, professional players and high quality staff to educate, motivate and inspire people through the power of sport to live an active and healthy lifestyle.

The foundation, recognises the importance and hard work of charities and community-based fund-raising groups as well as the positive impact we can have to help generate revenues and profile for these causes. Throughout the 2012-2013 season, we have supported many charities in the UK and further afield.

We have received requests from multi-national businesses, local businesses, armed forces, emergency services, schools, charities and individuals, and have donated more than 700 tickets to more than 180 charity events and fundraising efforts. Our support across a diverse range of events such as: Prizes for Awards Events | Quiz or Race Nights | Seasonal Fetes and Fayres | Sponsored Fancy Dress | Silences or Waxing | Sponsored Walks | Bike Rides | Climbs or Swims |

Some of the charities we have supported include: Alexander's Fund |Barnardo's | British Heart Foundation | British Limbless Ex Service Men's Association (BLESMA) | The British Lung Foundation | Cancer Research UK | Chilterns MS Centre | Epilepsy Research UK | Great Ormond Street Hospital | Help for Heroes | | Iain Rennie Hospice at Home | Kids Company | The Lisa Kent Memorial Trust | Macmillan Cancer Support | NSPCC | OXFAM | Primary and Secondary School PTAs | RAF Benevolent Fund | The Royal British Legion | Royal National Lifeboat Institution | Rugby Club Mini, Junior and Senior Teams | Scotty's Little Soldiers | Sport Relief | World Challenge | The World Food Programme |

In total, our donations have totalled more than £15,000 worth of match tickets that have helped charities to raise over £50,000 throughout the 2012-13 season.

Of our support for Help for Heroes at the Kabul International Airport Charity Raffle, Squadron Leader E B Williams wrote to say; "Thank you for supporting the Charity Raffle help on 26th January (2013). The evening was a great success. UK personnel, both serving military and the specialist contractors who support us joined in a pub quiz before a senior officer drew the raffle prize. The raffle raised an impressive $1,690 (c. £1,110) for Help for Heroes."

After their race night in June 2012, Iain Rennie Hospice at Home's Jenny Street said: "On behalf of the Amersham & High Wycombe fundraising branch, I would like to thank you for sponsoring a race at our race night. We had a super evening and I am pleased to tell you that we raised £828.51."

We provided a charity ticket voucher for the Gravesend RFC Family Fun Day in May 2013. Gary Theobald emailed to say; "Thank you for the very generous donation of four match tickets for our event. With your help we managed to raise over £4,500 on the day!"

We receive thousands of requests for donations to good causes each year and unfortunately cannot fulfil them all. The club does, though, have a commitment to deliver assistance where possible and a policy in place to deal with requests.
