On Sunday 3rd March, our character mascot Sting joined members of the London Wasps squad to support grassroots rugby festivals in Buckinghamshire.
Tinus Du Plessis at Beaconsfield RFC
Sting visited Community Partner Club Beaconsfield RFC for their Annual Spring Tournament. The event was aimed at C stream development players creating an environment for those squads to enjoy and play rugby against players with similar levels of skills and experience. The key focus for the Tournament WAS encouraging the players to have fun, improve their skills and game understanding, so they have been part of a great day of competition. Joining Sting at Beaconsfield RFC was London Wasps and Namibia back row player Tinus Du Plessis. Both Sting and Tinus met the young rugby players, coaches and their families, for photographs and autographs in the Spring sun. Tinus told wasps.co.uk, "It was great to see so many players enjoying their rugby. I was really impressed by the vision of the club to offer a competition where developing players can play at a level where they can gain a positive experience and gain the confidence from playing the game."
We would like to thank Tony Rees at Beaconsfield RFC for hosting us at the event

Christian Wade at RAF Halton with Witney RFC
Sting flew in to RAF Halton (near Aylesbury) to support their Centenary Youth Rugby Tournament, which celebrated 100 years of flight from the RAF Station. London Wasps and England Saxons winger Christian Wade supported the Tournament to present the awards and meet the players for photographs and autographs. Christian said after the event, "I have trained at RAF Halton a few times over the years and it was a pleasure to be invited back to support the Tournament. It looked like an excellent opportunity for young players to showcase their skills in a really well run event."
We would like to thank Wg Cdr Daren Moss at RAF Halton for hosting us at the event

The next three months will be a busy period for our Community Team as we continue to support grassroots rugby in Buckinghamshire, Middlesex, Oxfordshire and our Community Partner Clubs. Community Rugby Manager Dave Larham told wasps.co.uk, "It is important that we demonstrate our support for grassroots rugby events in our community because we have the brand profile that can help to inspire and motivate young people to enjoy lifelong participation in rugby. Hopefully the clubs we support will continue to support our match days and align themselves to London Wasps."
Sting loves getting out in to our community and saying "hello" to everyone. If you would like Sting to support your event, please complete an enquiry form here.
