London Wasps team to play London Irish

Director of Rugby Dai Young has named his side to play London Irish at the Madejski Stadium on Sunday, kick off 12:05.

There are three changes for the men in black and gold from the side that beat Gloucester at Adams Park last weekend.

Elliot Daly

Two of those changes are in the pack. Will Taylor makes his first Aviva Premiership start, coming into the front row in the place of Phil Swainston who hasn’t trained this week due to illness. The other change sees Jonathan Poff return to the back row following time out with injury, replacing Billy Vunipola, who is ruled out after picking up an injury whilst training with England. That change sees Sam Jones move to eight, with Poff coming in at seven.

The one change in the backs sees Elliot Daly, who has spent the majority of this week with England, return to the side, starting at outside centre, alongside Chris Bell.

On the bench, Lorenzo Romano, who joins the Club for the rest of the season from Saracens having trained with the squad in recent weeks, is named for the first time in Wasps colours.

Director of Rugby Dai Young said: “There is no doubt that we are in for a tough afternoon on Sunday. London Irish have some quality players across their team and they are clearly targeting their home games, having beaten Saracens the last time out there. Given their position in the table they will be desperate for points and we know exactly how much that can drive you after our experiences last season.”
