Sunday 17th February saw a jam packed Match Day Tag Rugby Challenge with teams from Community Partner Clubs Aylesbury RFC, Chinnor RFC, Marlow RUFC and Witney RFC taking part.
What is Tag Rugby?
Tag Rugby is a game played by teams of up to seven players. Each player wears a belt that has two velcro tags attached to it. The defenders have to pull one of the velcro tags from the ball-carrying attacking player, to force the player to pass the ball. The game is fast and exciting and develops the players’ agility, balance & coordination while focusing on the FUNdamental core skills of non-contact rugby.
This weekend's fixtures were:
Following the Tag Challenge, our Community Rugby Coach Ben Smiley told wasps.co.uk, "All of today's teams have been playing under the RFU's 'New Rules of Play' this season, that sees U7s play 4-a-side, with knock-ons not being penalised, and U8s playing 6-a-side and diving to score is allowed. All of the players have adapted very well to these rules, and it was plain for all to see that they have been beneficial for the players, with more touches of the ball, and more opportunities to practice their skills in game environment."
