London Wasps U18 side to play Harlequins

The London Wasps U18 Academy side face Harlequins U18 on Saturday at Maidenhead RFC, kick off 17:30.

Wasps have won three out of four games so far in the competiton, beating London Irish, Bath and Bristol.

Ahead of the game, Academy Coach Chris Lloyd said:

“Our last game was obviously a good win against Bristol but the lads have not got carried away with that.”

“We have been very impressed in how grounded the lads' response to that has been, their determination to continue to improve as both players and as a team really shows some great attitudes.”

“We are really looking forward to welcoming Harlequins on Saturday night and I am sure I am not alone in loving a local derby.”

“It is obvious their campaign in this competition has gained some momentum and I only need to reflect back on a cracking game we played with them at U17 level last year, which finished at four tries each, to know it should be a great game for the lads to play in.”

“In watching a couple of their games, it is clear they have added some powerful forward play to that performance last season so we know we have a challenge ahead of us but it is one the lads are relishing.”

“There were some very encouraging individual and unit performances for us last week and we are lucky to be in the position where we can welcome back some rested and unavailable players to this match day squad to hopefully add to that. We knew we had a competitive squad but I don’t think any of the coaches anticipated competition for places being at such a high level.”

“We are kicking off at 5:30 at Maidenhead RFC so any Black and Gold support that wants to pop in and watch the Wasps lads on their way to the Stoop for the Senior game will be more than welcome!”
