“I think the players gave us a lot of effort and energy today. It was disappointing that we couldn’t control field position because we were on the back foot so much. We defended for most of the game and against Leicester you are going to concede points, especially at Welford Road.
“Today was a chance for a lot of players to get some game time and there were a lot of players too who have come in from outside and linked up with us this week who wanted to show us the coaches what they could do. You can’t fault the energy and effort and they were playing for each other out there in tough circumstances.
“We had a lot of guys making their debuts. Will Rowlands went well in the pack, Charlie Hayter performed well in midfield too, so in terms of the effort those new guys made, not just today but all week at training too, we have a positive there for the long term rather than just the short term result here today.
“We’ve got Sale next week and it’s important we keep winning our home games. The team may change again next week but we will be going for it.
