U12s Champions - Beaconsfield RFC U12s
On Sunday 18th November we hosted an exciting and competitive Under 12 and Under 11 grassroots tournament at Farnham Royal RUFC and Adams Park Stadium, the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup. The successful series of nationwide tournaments continues to grow and allow young rugby players to showcase their capabilities in a professionally run environment.
Participating players at the festival also had the opportunity to meet London Wasps players Joe Simpson & Billy Vunipola who took time out of their schedules to watch the young teams as well as offer some coaching tips between games. Joe Simpson commented on the importance of grassroots rugby: "The Land Rover Premiership Cup provides a fantastic opportunity for young players to play in a competitive festival environment; where participation, hard work and core values are more important than winning. Our Community Team have run another high quality event that was an absolute pleasure to support."
U11s Joint-Champions - Beaconsfield RFC U11s & Beccehamian RFC U11s
The Under 12 Final was a fantastic spectacle for those in attendance, with the impressive Beaconsfield RFC keeping their composure to secure a fine victory over Amersham & Chiltern RFC, who showed great integrity in defeat and made sure that they challenged Beaconsfield RFC right until the final whistle. In the Under 11 Final, Beaconsfield RFC and Beccehamian RFC were inseparable, playing with great confidence and demonstrating superb defence to finish equal at the full-time whistle and be crowned Joint-Champions.
As well as winning the tournament, the young players have also won places in the prestigious Land Rover Parade of Champions where they will be presented to a sell-out crowd at Twickenham Stadium during the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final next May.
U11s Joint-Winning captain, Wilfred from Beaconsfield RFC, was excited to be there on the day and said, "Thank you for today. My teammates and I have had really good fun, and have enjoyed playing against teams who we don’t normally play. I would like to congratulate Beccehamian RFC for their superb display in the Final; we have shared the Cup with a very good team.”
With some very hard fought semi-finals and finals played, the overall final results were;

In addition, the Land Rover Above and Beyond Award, which goes to a player or team who showed great determination and composure to overcome any obstacles or challenges that presented themselves, was awarded to Marlow RUFC. No individual player could be selected to win the prize, but all of the referee's voted that the Marlow RUFC side had demonstrated an outstanding attitude towards fair play and supporting each other, their opposition teams and respecting the referee's.
After the London Wasps Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup, Event Organiser Ben Smiley told wasps.co.uk; "London Wasps really enjoy hosting the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup, and this season's event was a massive success. Lots of factors combined to create this; brilliant support and a fantastic venue Farnham Royal RUFC, a good mix of local and farther-travelled teams and superb playing conditions. There was some very competitive rugby played, in the right spirit, with players, coaches and referee's all being respected during the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup."
We would like to thank Farnham Royal RUFC, Dair House School for allowing us to use their parking facilities, Premiership Rugby Ltd. and Land Rover for their support and provision of the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup, and all of the players, coaches and spectators for contributing to a great grassroots rugby event.
