London Wasps have been developing girls rugby in the Amersham and Chesham (Chiltern District) of Buckinghamshire as a part of the Here Come the Girls pilot programme in partnership with Chesham Stags RUFC, Premiership Rugby Ltd and the RFU. The programme started in September, with Year 7 and Year 8 girls from the Amersham School, 2 classes at Chiltern Hills Academy and Dr Challoner's High School receiving "Tag to Tackle" coaching from the London Wasps Community Team.

A parent from an Amersham School participant contacted wasps.co.uk and told us: "Emily is really enjoying your sessions at Amersham School!!!"
With the Here Come the Girls Pilot Programme coming to a close, we are inviting all of the participating Year 7 and Year 8 girls, and any other Year 7 and Year 8 girls, to join Chesham Stags RUFC on Tuesday 6th November between 4.30 and 6.30pm. The coaching will continue to develop the players' contact skills through the Tag to Tackle coaching process, with the aim of introducing all of the girls to Chesham Stags RUFC, and further developing the girls teams at the club.
Ben Smiley, Community Rugby Coach, told wasps.co.uk: "Chesham Stags RUFC can offer girls and women a fantastic opportunity to enjoy playing rugby in a friendly, fun and family-orientated environment. Much of the need of this pilot programme is to provide a sustainable pathway from schools rugby to club rugby that creates lifelong participation in sport and rugby. Hopefully we will be able to support the Chesham Stags RUFC Girls and Women more as their numbers grow."
If you would like more information about the Transition Day at Chesham Stags RUFC on Tuesday 6th November, please contact Ben Smiley by email or telephone 01494 531122.
