On Saturday 11th August we delivered our new "Up, Close & Personal with London Wasps" Community event at Community Partner Club May & Baker RFC in Dagenham, Essex. The day comprised of a squad coaching session delivered to 50 senior players, a Question & Answer session with London Wasps player Tinus Du Plessis & Alec Hepburn, fundraising opportunity and an official signing session with the players.
London Wasps & England 20s prop Alec Hepburn told wasps.co.uk, "It was great to get involved with the players from May & Baker RFC during every aspect of the event. I really enjoyed working alongside our Community Team and putting some of my coaching experience into practice. Both squads really applied themselves throughout the coaching sessions, despite the early start and a really warm day."
Garry Hill, Club Liaison for May & Baker RFC told wasps.co.uk, "What Wasps provided and brought to May and Baker was exceptional. Everything from the set up on the day to the coaching from the Community Team could not be faulted in any way whatsoever. The London Wasps players (Alec Hepburn and Tinus du Plessis) provided their own tips, advice, personal experiences and got fully involved; their input and comments to the players alone was invaluable. Another great aspect on the day after our training was the Q&A Session where the Wasps players spoke of their own experiences throughout their rugby careers and also answered various questions from the members of May & Baker RFC. Overall, this was a great day that proved very productive and is an event that any other rugby club should aim to host and be a part of the Partnership!"
